School Admissions

The County Council (Local Authority) is responsible for deciding school admissions to Kyson. Full details of their policy and procedures are set out in the 'Admissions to Schools in Suffolk' booklet which is available from the school office or at www.suffolk.gov.uk/admissionstoschools. This provides everything you need to know about applying for a school place at Kyson as well as access to  information about admission proceedures, selection and oversubscription criteria and published admission numbers.

You can call the County Council Admissions team on 0345 600 0981 or email them on admissions@suffolk.gov.uk.

If you wish to make an appointment with the Head teacher to have a look round the school, please call the school office on 01394 384481 or head.kyson@talk21.com

If you are moving your child to another school, you will need to complete and return a Leaving form. This form is available from the school office (or by clicking here) and should be completed and returned as soon as possible. Once the form is received by the office they will then inform the County Council.

Please click here to read a letter from the Head about applying for a school Reception place.

Nursery Admissions

Your child can start Nursery from the term following their 3rd birthday, providing there is a space.

Please pick up a Nursery Application form from the school office. Please take your child's birth certificate together with the completed application form to the school office. This information will be forwarded to the Local Authority who will allocate spaces termly.

The County Council will allocate spaces based on the following criteria:

  • Looked after children/Statement
  • Date of Birth
  • Intention to take up 5 sessions each week
  • Siblings already attending Kyson
  • Proximity to Kyson

Admission to the school Nursery does not guarantee a full-time school place at Kyson. A separate application for a full-time place in the school must be made. Your child can stay in the school nursery until the September following their 4th birthday when a reception place may be offered.
